Did the field trip!

Took two classes to Prince William Forest Park yesterday, 9/30. Sixty kids total . Will and Becca were there and Courtney. The day went very smoothly. The two classes were split and each did the watchdog and water canaries modules. The feedback from the kids has been great. They loved it! There were 5 full (as in head under the water) immersions/baptisms but the kids just thought it was all fun! Did you know that after months of immobility, cramped up in a hollow tree or den for the winter, black bears have been found to lose no muscle tone or suffer any bone loss? Thunder Hole in Acadia National Park - watch your step!

This past weekend, several people were washed out to sea near Thunder Hole in Acadia National Park. Tragically, a young girl of 7 years old died. Others were hospitalized with broken bones and hypothermia. They were observing the effects of Hurricane Bill. Thunder Hole is a unique place to watch the effect of waves, but care must be taken.

Taking the "add on" module

So I have signed up and am taking the GIS workshop that is the counterpart to the BTW workshop I took at the end of June. We are learing how to map and use GPSs and use them to map the site we will be using for our site visit with the kids. it is a great workshop!
